Anti ragging Committee

Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC)

An Anti-Ragging Committee is a body established in educational institutions to prevent and address ragging, which includes any form of harassment or intimidation of students. The committee’s primary goals are to create a ragging-free environment, educate students about the dangers of ragging and take action against those who engage in such behaviour.

The Anti-Ragging Committee ensures compliance with provisions of Regulations as well as the provisions of any law for time being in force concerning ragging and also, to monitor and oversee the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad in prevention of ragging in our institution.

To maintain a safe, harassment-free environment for students by preventing, investigating, and addressing instances of ragging.

Objectives

  • To maintain discipline in the campus.
  • To achieve the goal of creating a safe, motivating and accepting environment by supporting the use of positive attitudes.
  • To ensure appropriate communication between authorities and students.
  • To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.
  • To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.
  • To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.

Functions of Committee

  • To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti-Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders.
  • Oversee the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions.
  • To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls.
  • To create awareness among the students about Anti-Ragging.
  • To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus/Hostels.

1. Introduction of Committee Members

The Co-ordinator Dr. M. Sridharan welcomed all the participants and introduced the committee members.

During the meeting, the members interacted with students, encouraging them to actively voice concerns from the student community and provide feedback on ragging-related issues.

2. Committee Activities for Academic Year 2025-2026
  • The committee is planning to conduct an Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme in the next semester and is yet to finalize the Chief Guest from the Police Department.
  • Anti-Ragging Squad surprise visits need to be planned for the college hostels (both boys and girls).
  • To foster a positive relationship between juniors and seniors, the committee planned to organize interactive meetups where senior students could share their experiences and offer helpful guidance in a friendly environment.
3. Any Other Matter

Ragging Helpline Promotion: It was suggested that the helpline numbers be more prominently displayed on campus and circulated via email to all students.

Additionally, posters and banners will be put up in key areas like hostels, libraries, and cafeterias.
