About the Department

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at NPR College of Engineering and Technology was started in the year 2008 under the affiliation of Anna University. The department offers Under Graduate program B.E.-ECE and Post Graduate program M.E.-VLSI Design. The department is recognized as Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai. The department’s laboratories are well equipped where need-based and demanded training has been provided. Students gain a strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in the field of efficient reliable software and hardware to meet the industrial requirements. In our department, we have 6 academic laboratories and high-speed internet (600 Mbps) to precede state of the art facilities for carrying out projects in Embedded Technology, VLSI Design, Digital Signal Processing and Wireless Communication. Exclusive Centre of Excellence for IoT and Embedded System supported by Tessolve Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore is available. Tinkering lab provides a space where individuals can explore, experiment, and create without the constraints of traditional classroom settings. The faculty members are highly qualified and dedicated. They have excellent teaching skills to develop their students with employability skills. The department of ECE received 23 University ranks in Anna University Examinations till now, recently 2022-24 batch M.E VLSI Design student secured university III rank. The department has achieved accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). This prestigious recognition reflects the unwavering commitment to excellence and dedication to upholding the highest standards in the department. The NBA accreditation is a testament to relentless pursuit of quality across all aspects of the department. The department arranges industrial training for the students to fill the gap between industry and institution through Value - Added Courses as part of the curriculum. The students are motivated to attend co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Also, they are encouraged to participate in various events like Hackathons, symposiums, and project presentations to develop their innovative and design thinking skills. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India’s leading recognised professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & IT Founded in 1953. The IETE is the National Apex Professional body of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science and IT Professionals. It serves more than 1,25,000 members (including Corporate, Student and ISF members) through various 63 Centres, spread all over India and abroad.

The Institution provides leadership in Scientific and Technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognised IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence.

The core objectives of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) are to advance electro-technology, facilitate knowledge exchange in Electronics, Telecom, IT, & related fields, promote engineering education, support research & development, and develop human resources through technical programs, publications, and career development for its members and the nation.

The IETE NPRCET student chapter was established in 2022. From start of inception, the IETE student chapter has been organizing various informative and interactive activities, which includes regular technical paper presentations, technical quiz and lectures by various eminent industrialists, extension activities and workshops with the motive of imparting the latest knowledge in the fields of instrumentation and applied electronics to the students.
