The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is a cell within an organization that is mandated to address and resolve complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace. It is a statutory requirement under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 in India and as per section 4, AICTE, Regulation 2016 vide.no:F/AICTE/WH/2016/01 dated 10th June 2016.
The ICC typically consists of both male and female employees from various levels and departments within the organization. It must be headed by a senior female employee and have at least half its members as women. The committee is responsible for receiving complaints of sexual harassment, conducting inquiries, and recommending actions against the accused if the complaint is found to be valid.
