About NPRCET Science Club

The Science Club at NPR College of Engineering and Technology (NPRCET) is a dynamic platform dedicated to promoting scientific inquiry, innovation, and practical application of knowledge. The club serves as an integral co-curricular platform that nurtures intellectual curiosity and encourages students to explore the continuously evolving frontiers of science and technology.

Guided by the mottos "Ignite Curiosity, Innovate the Future" and "Cultivating Scientific Minds, Empowering Innovative Engineers", the club inspires students to transform scientific curiosity into innovative engineering solutions that address real-world challenges.

The Science Club acts as a bridge between theoretical classroom learning and practical engineering applications. Through workshops, seminars, hands-on projects, competitions, and awareness programs, students gain valuable opportunities to experiment, innovate, collaborate, and develop scientific thinking.

By creating an environment that encourages exploration without the constraints of formal evaluation, the club cultivates creativity, critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and problem-solving abilities essential for future engineers.

Activities of the Science Club 2025-2026 (Odd Semester)

The first meeting of the Science Club for the Academic Year 2025 -2026

The first meeting of the Science Club for the Academic Year 2025 -2026 was held on 19.09.2025 (Friday) at 04.00 p.m. to discuss the activity of the Science Club in NPRCET Library. The primary focus of the meeting was to discuss the planning and execution of activities for the current odd semester.

APJ Abdul Kalam Day (October 14, 2025)

The coordinator proposed about celebrating APJ Abdul Kalam Day and requested ideas from the members. Mr. A. G. Paranthaman suggested a poster-making competition for students across all four years. Mrs. D. Priyadhashini recommended that the competition could be conducted using mobile phones, while Mrs. S. Janet Vidyaa Nancy emphasized using traditional materials like charts and inks to encourage effective student participation. Dr. S. Suresh proposed adding a prototype model-making competition as a supplementary event. Mr. Allwyn Anand suggested the Drawing Hall as a suitable venue for the poster-making competition.

Awareness Program on Space Science

The coordinator proposed an awareness program on Space Science and the use of space telescopes in collaboration with the NPRCET ACM Student chapter's Space and Astronomy Club. This program would initially target 50 students, with the long-term goal of promoting them to an outreach program for schools. The forum accepted this proposal, with the understanding that the event's scheduling would depend on the availability of academic calendar dates and resource persons.

National Science Day Science Exhibition (February 28, 2026)

Dr. B. Prakash suggested that students who have participated in hackathons, ideathons, and other prototype-modeling competitions at external colleges should be encouraged to expand their projects for the National Science Mela Exhibition. He urged all the members to convey this suggestion to their respective departments to boost the students to participate in exhibition. Mr. P. Jayaraj proposed that students registered for the exhibition can be allowed to work on their projects from 3 to 4 pm daily. During the even semester or in January 2026. Mrs. D. Priyadhashini stated that each member should identify two problem statements within their core department which can be used for the Science Day competitions, with the goal of showcasing practical and functional science projects.

Reward Points for Participants

Dr. S. Suresh highlighted the importance of awarding reward points to students who actively participate in Science Club events, contingent upon a clear set of criteria.

World Students Day - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birthday Celebration

The Science Club of NPRCET organized a commemorative event on October 14, 2025, to honor the birth anniversary of the legendary scientist and former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Observed across India as World Students Day, the occasion serves as a tribute to Dr. Kalam’s lifelong dedication to education and his unique bond with the student community. The event featured a Poster Making and Prototype modelling Competition, engaging a total of 42 participants in showcasing their technical creativity and scientific temperament.

The primary objective of the celebration was to ignite interest in Space Science and Rocketry while motivating students to envision a technologically advanced India, as Dr. Kalam did. The Poster Making competition encouraged students to illustrate Dr. Kalam’s visionary concepts for the nation. Simultaneously, the Prototype modelling event challenged participants to design innovative, society-centric scientific models. To ensure a seamless experience, the competitions were held across two parallel venues, resulting in high levels of student engagement and innovation.

  • During the meeting, Dr. N. Prabakran, Co-ordinator, Science Club welcomed the participants and introduced the committee members.
  • The Chairman emphasized the importance of science club in the education system, which acts as connecting tool between basic fundamental science and the recent engineering fields.
  • He encouraged the committee members to organize science exhibitions, competitions which boost the innovative minds of young students. He also urged the faculty members to invoke the students’ interest in the scientific and mathematical background concepts of popular engineering products used in daily life applications.
  • Overall, the meeting aimed to foster science education in the student community to enhance educational practices in engineering fields.
  • The Chairman provided an enlightening overview of the Science club’s initiatives for the Academic Year 2024-2025. The chairman suggested that students can give science demonstrations to the nearby government school students based on the theme of science in engineering life.
  • He advised the members to plan for organizing celebrations of national science day and other significant days in national science & technological fields, encouraging students to undertake projects and exhibitions.

  • During the meeting, Dr. B. Prakash, Co-ordinator, Science Club welcomed the participants and introduced the committee members.
  • The committee discussed about the activities for the upcoming even semester, with a focus on enhancing science education within the engineering student community.
  • The objective of these activities is to improve educational practices in engineering fields by fostering student engagement in scientific endeavours.
  • The committee discussed the planning and execution of National Science Day celebration scheduled on February 28, 2025.
  • Committee members were tasked with collecting student project details and necessary requirements for the project exhibition from their respective departments.
  • Emphasis was placed on ensuring student projects are live working models, web applications, web portals, or circuit models, rather than static displays.
  • The goal is to show practical and functional science projects.
  • Forum members highlighted the Science Club's commitment to collaboration and educational best practices in promoting the latest science and technology concepts among engineering students.

National Mathematics Day Celebration

The Science Club of NPRCET successfully conducted an online quiz competition for first-year students in celebration of National Mathematics Day. The event, held on 24.12.2024, witnessed an impressive participation of 137 students, showcasing their passion for mathematics.

The online quiz, designed to test fundamental mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills, aimed to honor the legacy of Srinivasa Ramanujan and ignite a deeper interest in mathematics among students. The competition was conducted through Google Forms, ensuring accessibility and a seamless experience for all participants.

The event's success was evident in the enthusiastic participation and the high level of engagement displayed by the students. The Science Club is pleased to announce the winners of the competition:

The Science Club extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. V. Vijayanaranan, AP/Physics, and Dr. D. Umapathi, AP/Chemistry, for their invaluable assistance in conducting the online quiz. We are also deeply grateful to Dr. M. Sridharan, Professor/Mathematics, for his expert contribution in preparing the challenging and insightful quiz questionnaire. Dr. B. Prakash, AP/Physics and Science Club Coordinator, oversaw all arrangements for the National Mathematics Day quiz program.

The Science Club aims to continue organizing such events to foster a culture of academic excellence and promote a deeper understanding of scientific principles.
